It is an extremely sad moment in all Marathi lives all over the world. I live in Canada and I have been calling/receiving calles from all over the USA and Canada and India about this utterly saddening event. He was an absolute genius in his field and gave a humorous color to our day to day stresses. He made our lives so easy and simple to live. Taught us to laugh as and when we can. His demise is an absolute absolute loss.

Marathi samaj has lost a Diamond in the neckless of the literature.
Punha aasa P-L hone naahi.
P-l che aausha was a sacrifice.
I do not think that there was or is another P-L in the whole world.
He would have received a Nobel Prize if He would written in English and also had performed some chamachegere.
I feel empty in my heart.
I am sure He will attend a great place in the Vruundavan although He himself was a Nidharmi.
God has prase for everybody.

He was one source on inspiration for all kids, youth, middle aged, old people alike.
It is difficult to imagine any other personality who could be "your" in such a pervious manner.
It is difficult to hold back tears from your eyes esp for a person to whom even a reference to his name breaks out genuine, pure laughter.
Pray to god to give peace to his spirits..

I am intensely grieved to know that Pu La is no more. We are so much used to reading his books listening to his cassettes, that he was a part of our family. It seems hard to accept that he is no more. Batatyachi chaal , waryawarchi warat any many more legendary creations of his will be our only way to get in touch with him now.
Our deepest condolences to Sunitabai.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!

Dear Punecity,
We are from Detroit Padma & Suresh Nair, really shocked when we heard this news. We went to Chicago just two days ago to see Marathi Natyamahostav by Maharashtra Mandal, one of them was Pu.La's 'Asa me Asame'. Our sincere condolence with him. He was such a great personality, at the same time he was always been so unselfish and innocent. He entertained whole Maharashtra with his such a good quality of literature, and at the end he had to suffered so much. It is very difficult to say 'he was' because he is going to be in our hearts and in our minds forever.
Sinerly,
- Padma Nair [padma_nair@hotmail.com]
I just read that Pu La is no more. I have admired his incredible writing skills which were truly like none other. We have truly lost not only a great litterateur and humorist but a truly amazing person as well.
- Dhanshree Pawar [dhanaritz@hotmail.com]
Life will never be the same again without Pu La. He gave us common people the great strength that comes from being able to laugh at ourselves and at the absurdities of life. Even in my deepest dispair i remember some acute observation or the other that he has made in his numerous writings and katah-kathans.... half seriously, half jokingly...and it always brings a smile to my lips even if there are tears in my eyes! truly he was a genius. such treasures are born once in a generation...! we must consider ourselves lucky to have had him with us through his creative years. perhaps he will frown at us if we mourn. he himself would surely make some sly yet poignant joke about his own death! so i think the best tribute we can pay to him is to smile through out tears and pray to God that his genius is reborn .... to paint for us another galaxy of unforgettable characters ....
